EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy method which has proven to be highly effective in helping people deal with emotional difficulties caused by trauma and other distressing life experiences. The approach is based on a bilateral stimulation of the brain hemispheres which facilitates an innate information processing mechanism to take place. The EMDR therapist guides the client to attend to and to voice emotions, thoughts and physical sensation which creates a new experience that allows for a productive working through of the traumatic event.
Dr. Rosen-Bernays applies these techniques on occasion, especially in situations where a client is suffering from the effects of a recent traumatic event.
